What’s the difference between Lancome and Clinique? Estee Lauder and MAC? Chanel and Shu Uemura?
Let’s find out together.
I recently got a makeover at the Chanel Makeup Studio at Bloomingdale’s. Read about my experience and then vote on which of my looks is your favorite.

Guinea pig: Candice Shih
Typical makeup routine: None. I’m told chapstick and face lotion with sunscreen don’t count.
Makeover site: Chanel Makeup Studio, Bloomingdale’s
Cost: None
Makeup artist: Jessica Oye
Skincare products used: Balancing Mousse Cleanser, Balancing Toner, Hydramax Serum, Beaute Initiale Eye and Ultra Correction Lip
Color products used: Taupe Brow Pencil, Beige Eye Base, Spices Eye Shadow, Black Shimmer Eyeliner, Base Mascara, Black Inimitable Mascara, Tweed Rose Blush, Rose Tawny Lipliner, Exaltation Lipstick, Gold Shine Lipgloss, Le Blanc de Chanel Base, Pro Lumiere Light, Quick Cover CandleLight, Vita Lumiere Nude No. 5 Foundation, Loose No. 2 Powder, Rosee Powder and Terre Epice Bronzer.
Length of makeover: 1 hour 30 minutes
What characterizes Chanel: Colors are created in a light studio so they will make you look your best at any time of day or year.
Lessons learned: DO put gloss in the center of your lips so they are accentuated to look like Angelina Jolie’s. DON’T use a dark lip liner with a paler lipstick.
Did you know? Men also get their makeup done here, generally asking for concealer and bronzer.
